What
kind of paint do you use? I
paint my tiles using underglazes, the design is painted onto the
unglazed tile in three to five layers,
the tile is then kiln
fired between the layers. A
clear glaze, which becomes the glass coating in the final firing, is applied
over the design and then the tile is kiln fired
again.
Are
the Tiles Food Safe? Yes, all the pigment is below
the glaze. The clear glaze is food safe.
How
durable is the painted image? Because the paint is fired into
the tile and then a clear glaze is fired the image is extremely
durable.
Will
I know what my tiles will look like?. I will do a rough sketch
at no charge. I will also do a detailed sketch to for you to approve
before the order is confirmed, but require $50 or $ 50% (whatever is
less) in advance. This is a deposit
which will be applied to your final tiles should you then decide to purchase
them.

Can
I have you match my colors or wallpaper? Because
the underglaze paint changes color when it is fired I can not guarantee
a perfect match, but I can get it very, very close. I do require that
you send in a sample of what you want matched.

What
kind of design can you paint? I can paint pretty much anything
on tiles that you want. A custom painted mural should have personal meaning
to you. I will paint your favorite place or things, just let me know what
you want.
How
soon can I get my tiles? Because of the time involved
in painting and firing tiles it usually takes a minimum of two weeks to complete
an order after the sketch is approved, for large jobs it will take more
time.
